With the configuration of our second COD2 and COD4 servers with Ground Zero Game Servers, our services have been upgraded, game server-wise. Not only does our new provider utilize superior hardware but they provide 100 megabit bandwidth versus the 10 megabit bandwidth from our old providers. In plain terms, the old daily lag issues are a thing of the past. There are always going to be periods of routing or network congestion with any provider but it is minimized (in fact non-existent under normal conditions) with the change over. Along with the better connectivity, what else does the change mean? Obviously, it means new IP's which most of our regular players have found. But it doesn't stop there. Our move to the new hosts means we have an automated language and TK enforcer and administrative tool called B3 which many of you have seen on other servers over the years. For the old timers in the community, think "Holyeye on steroids". In addition to monitoring bad language and bad names, it provides not only our admins but our regular members with a means to help enforce our values with console messages and as needed, member inititated warnings which can be used in concert with other members to remove a problem guest. As this tool is configured on all four servers, we will be offering help to members who are interested in helping keep our servers clean. But the new features don't stop with the addition of B3. We also are now streaming our server feeds to PB Bans. What does that mean for you? It means our servers will always have the latest definitions and configuration for Punk Buster provided by PB Bans so that even the newest schemes to cheat have a smaller chance of working on the NC servers. There are some small prices to pay in the form of certain configuration enhancements for higher frame rates that are legitimate but to err on the side of caution aren't allowed by the PB streaming. We will help any member who encounters settings problems as the price paid in small inconveniences is far out weighed by the benefits of cleaner server traffic. And speaking of prices, did I mention the cost for such advances in our servers? Well, how about an overall SAVINGS of 33% for our game servers with all these features (including 8 more slots available on COD2 and COD4 servers) as compared to what we were paying with the old host! As always, we want your feedback and input as we continue to work daily to bring our community the best services for the best prices possible. Feel free to leave your thoughts. After all it is about you, the members that determine the continued success of NC. ~Angel

Maybe it's the time of year or what-not but we seem to be having fewer MP's that are able to be online, particularly at the late nights or early afternoons. We have been reserving adding new MP's until quarterly promotions but combined with our commitment to as much coverage as we need and the availability of some good members, we can take care of that as we go along instead of waiting. Our philosophy, as is often mentioned of "a new beginning" applies to everything about us but our roots. We have made opportunities and some members have had the time and desire to step up and make the most of them. Today, I get the privilege of announcing the addition of one such member who has come a long way in making himself available for service to this community. After talking with him and seeing his desire to help where needed along with his demonstrated abilities, I am pleased to announce that Crepetis has accepted the position of MP or remote server admin with the group. Bear with us as we get him up to par on the procedural matters and our training program for new admins. Join me in congratulating Crep on his new assignment! And for the rest of you that have shown a desire and willingness to help, stay tuned. I think we have shown our commitment to adding as many admins as we need to insure the needs and desires of this community are met. We will continue to add as needed but in an orderly fashion. ~Angel

For anyone not familiar, the term "Battlefield Commission" was started in the United States Army during World War One as a means to recognize the achievements of an enlisted soldier for their leadership and skills to the ranks of Commissioned Officer. We promised and hopefully have provided some changes with the new group here and the initiation of this procedure is one of them. We have been blessed with the New Centurions to have a community that has cohesiveness and strong friendships. We also are fortunate to have many good people who have stepped up and of their own initiative, shown themselves to be true leaders. Today, I have the privilege of recognizing one such member. Many of you have taken the NC slogan MaxRat coined of "A New Beginning" to heart. It shows in your participation, your helpfulness and overall positive demeanors. The member we are recognizing today has not only done that but has sacrificed his personal gaming time as well as real world liesure time to put himself into the operations functions of the community. In keeping with the time honored tradition of battlefield commissions, I am proud to announce on behalf of MaxRat, myself and the rest of the community, that based on his work and tireless efforts on behalf of the community that effective immediately, our friend ToddOne is commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant. Please join me in congratulating Todd for this unusual but well deserved recognition. Thank you Todd, today we salute you! ~Angel

The next generation of the COD4 mod is installed on both COD4 servers. The TRM mod has been integrated with the OpenWarfare Project, which is a group of professional grade programmers. I was added to the Development team as a courtesy a while back and I have to say, the work they do is impressive. There are literally hundreds of configuration possibilities with the mod from the current one in use that is almost identical to the last version of TRM we used to whatever your imagination can conceive of. The current version 1.1.2, is a complete rewrite of the TRM code with many innovations. We are currently in "unranked" mode which allows us to specify what weapons and perks we want all to be able to access. There is the "ranked" mode as well which provides custom classes and challenges but as of this release, allows ALL weapons to be able to be used. We will run with whichever mode our members want the most. Regardless of ranked or unranked, there are so many settings that to hit a consensus, we ask all of our COD4 members and guests to jump on and test drive it with us. If you have a feature that isn't available, let us know! Development is ongoing and new versions and sub-versions will further enhance the option list. One of the biggest features of the mod though is it's stability. Initial testing has shown that most all of the previous generation's problems with server command overflows and other irritating issues for players have been resolved with this new project. Thanks as always for your continued support and participation. I look forward to seeing you on the servers and welcome your feedback which will be passed to the real coders at the OpenWarfare Project team which includes our friend SpacepiG of TRM fame. A word of personal thanks to Pig as I'm sure he had a lot to do with this old goat getting to even be listed with such a group. ~Angel

Well guys and gals, we have decided to take the plunge. We have joined (at no cost to the membership) the COD4 Realism1 TRM League. The season will begin the week of September 7th and we need to have a team ready to play by then. To keep it simple for now, we are taking signups from members that have a desire to represent the clan in the league. If you are interested, we need you to go to: http://www.realism1.com and create an account/login. When you signup, use your normal tags without the rank. [NC]YourName is the format. After you signup, I can add you to the NC team. Based on the response we get, we'll have a meeting and lay out the ground rules of the league for you. Yes, we want to play to win but don't let doubts about your skill or experience stop you, I didn't! This isn't some NC "All Stars" deal. So if you have any desire to participate, sign up - If after you hear the drill at the meeting and decide against participating, no problem! This is strictly voluntary. Yes, this is something new for this group in general but as I hope most of you are seeing, the tag line "A new beginning" isn't just fluff, we really mean it. We can't carry more than 20 active at any given time but even of you can only commit to part time, that's all good. We will rotate out players on the active roster so all who desire to can play. We'll announce a meeting date and time in a few days and go from there. I hope any of you who enjoy good competition representing your community will signup! We plan to have a good time with this and hope you will join us in this new venture! ~Angel
